What we collect, why, who can see it, and how to have it deleted.
1. Who we are
2. What we collect
If you register as a graduate, we collect what you give us to build your profile and prepare you for remote work: your name, email, field, bio, location, skills, salary expectations, LinkedIn, GitHub and portfolio links, your CV, a profile photo if you add one, and, only if you go through vetting, a recorded video and notes from our screening call.
If you register as a company, we collect your company name, email, website and country, and the jobs you post.
If you message us through the contact form, we keep your name, email, phone number if given, and your message.
3. What's public and what's private
Your profile is not public by default. It becomes visible in the talent directory only once you finish all three preparation tracks and fill in your field, skills and bio, and only if your field is one the directory currently covers. You can see exactly what's missing on your own dashboard at any time.
When your profile is public, your name, photo, field, skills, bio and badges are visible to anyone. Your CV, LinkedIn, GitHub and portfolio links are not: those are only shown to a company that registers and either applies through your profile or specifically requests them, so we know who has seen them.
Vetting videos are private: only you, our admin, and a company you've actually applied to can see it, never someone just browsing. Our private screening notes and your self-assessed preparation scores are never shown to anyone outside RemoteReady BW, including companies.
4. How your files are stored
Your CV is stored in a private file store, limited to PDF files under 5MB, and is never publicly reachable by a link.
A vetting video, if you record one, is stored the same way: private, never publicly reachable, limited to video files under 50MB.
A profile photo, if you add one, is stored publicly by design, since its whole purpose is to appear on your public profile once it is live. If you later hide your profile, the photo file itself can still be reached by its direct link, even though your profile page no longer shows it, the same way most platforms handle profile images. If you want a photo fully removed rather than just hidden, contact us and we will delete the file.
5. Who we share it with
We never sell your data. A registered company only sees what's described in section 3 above, and only after they've registered, never an anonymous visitor.
We use a small number of service providers to run the platform: Supabase (our database, authentication and file storage), Vercel (hosting), Resend (sending confirmation and notification emails), and Sentry (catching errors so a broken page gets fixed instead of silently failing). These providers process data on our behalf to make the platform work, and may store or process it outside Botswana as part of doing so.
We deliberately do not use session-recording tools that capture what you see on screen: this platform holds CVs and other job-search data, and we'd rather not record more than we need to.
6. Your rights
Under Botswana's Data Protection Act, you can ask to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Most of your profile you can already edit yourself on your dashboard, any time.
Account deletion is a real, working feature, not a request you have to wait on: you can delete your own account from your dashboard, which removes your profile, your files, and your applications. If you'd rather we do it for you, or you have any other request about your data, email us and we'll act on it directly.
7. How long we keep it
